Game Types

RaffleX is always adding new game modes to keep your customers engaged. Here’s a simple guide on how to set up game modes in your competitions, what they do, and key things to keep in mind.

Available Game Modes

  • Spin the Wheel

  • Slots

  • Scratch Cards

  • Instant Reveal

  • Piñata

  • Loot Boxes

  • Pop

How to Set Up a Game Type

  1. Go to Competitions in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click Edit on the competition you want to update.

  3. Find the Game Type dropdown.

  4. Select your desired game mode.

Important: For the game mode to work, you must have at least one instant win prize active in that competition.

How It Works Behind the Scenes

  • When a customer purchases a ticket, they are randomly assigned a number (i.e. a ticket).

  • If that number is an instant winner, the game mode will reveal their win interactively (e.g., spinning a wheel, spinning the slot machine, or scratching a scratch card).

  • For more details on how instant win ticket numbers are generated, click here.

Game Type Details

Spin the Wheel

  • A spinning wheel with different segments.

  • Some segments contain prizes, others do not.

  • The customer clicks a button to spin the wheel.

  • If they have a winning ticket number, the wheel will land on the corresponding prize to reveal their win.

Theme Options

You can choose from three preset wheel themes or create your own custom wheel border.

a. Use a Preset Theme

  1. Create or edit your game and select Spin the Wheel as the game type.

  2. Open the Theme Selector dropdown.

  3. Choose one of the three preset themes.

  4. Save and Preview to check alignment and readability.

  5. Launch when you’re happy.

b. Create a Custom Border

  1. Create or edit your game and select Spin the Wheel as the game type.

  2. In Theme Selector, choose Custom.

  3. Click Download Default Overlay.

  4. Open the overlay in your design tool and use it as a template.

  5. Match the diameter of the default theme exactly when designing your border.

    • Don’t let artwork overlap into the inner wheel area, or it will encroach on the spinning segments.

  6. Add a clear arrow/marker at the top (12 o’clock) to indicate the result of each spin.

  7. Export your border (ideally same pixel dimensions as the overlay, with a transparent background).

  8. Back in the app, upload your custom border to replace the default overlay.

  9. (Optional) Upload a custom background to complete the look.

  10. Save and run a test spin to confirm:

    • The arrow lines up with results.

    • The border doesn’t cover any wheel segments.

  11. When everything looks good, publish.

Background added for visual purposes only. Background will be black or white depending on your theme.

Slots

  • A slot machine-style game with 8 themes to choose from.

  • Customers press a spin button to start the reels.

  • If they have a winning ticket number, the reels will spin and land on a winning combination to reveal their prize.

Important:

  • Slots is limited to a maximum of 9 Instant Win prizes.

  • Each of the 9 prizes can have multiple winners. For example, you can offer 100 of each prize, but you cannot have more than 9 unique prize types.

Scratch Card

  • Customers get a digital scratch card.

  • On mobile: they use their finger to scratch off the panel.

  • On desktop: they click and drag their mouse to scratch.

  • If they have a winning ticket number, the prize is revealed when the scratch-off panel is removed.

Instant Reveal

In its simplest form, the instant win reveal checks each ticket at varying speeds and displays if the customer has won or not. If the customer wins we pause or stop depending on the setting they choose and display the win along with a sound effect if they have also chose for them to play.

When a customer wins, we will also chance the image displayed to the one added to the instant win for added clarity on the win.

Once all is said and done a summary of wins or better luck next time is shown if none.

Pop

How it works

  • Customers see a grid of icons, each representing a ticket number.

  • When they click an icon, it “pops” and reveals either a prize or no win.

Setup Options

With Pop, you can upload your own icons, sounds, and decide whether ticket numbers are displayed.

A) Upload your own icon

  1. Create or edit your game and select Pop as the game type.

  2. Prepare your icon as a square image with a transparent background (e.g. a balloon, present, star).

  3. Upload your icon in the settings.

B) Add custom sounds

  1. Go to the Sound Settings for your Pop game.

  2. (Optional) Upload a pop sound effect (played when any icon is clicked).

  3. (Optional) Upload a win sound effect (played only when the icon reveals a prize).

C) Show or hide ticket numbers

  1. In the Display Settings, choose whether to:

    • Show ticket numbers overlayed on each icon, or

    • Hide ticket numbers for a cleaner look.
