**This is not legal advice.** Rafflex provides features that can help you support good practice, but this documentation does not tell you what you must do to comply with anything. The code is voluntary and open to interpretation. You are responsible for your own compliance. The second area of the voluntary code is about being open. The code asks operators to consider explaining clearly how each draw is conducted, making sure draws are fair with an equal chance for every entry, showing the likelihood of winning, offering a genuine free entry route shown clearly before purchase, and delivering the advertised prize promptly.

Rafflex gives you several settings that can help with these areas. Unlike player protections, they are spread across a few different places in your admin panel, so this page tells you exactly where each one lives.

### Where to find everything

All of the settings below are in your **admin panel**. To reach **Settings**, find the **Content** group in the left-hand menu and click **Settings**. Each Settings page (such as **General** or **Checkout**) is then listed in the Settings side menu.

Each one is explained in more detail below.

### Explaining how each draw works

The code asks operators to consider explaining clearly how each draw is conducted.

Most of this is about the words you write. Good places to explain your draws are:

* **Each competition's description.** Tell customers how and when the winner will be picked, for example "Drawn automatically through TrueNorth when the competition ends" or "Drawn live on our Facebook page at 8pm on the draw date". See [Create a Competition](/create-your-first-raffle/create-a-competition.md).
* **Your terms and conditions.** Set out your general draw rules once, so they apply to every competition. See [Add Terms & Conditions](/essential-settings/add-terms-and-conditions.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
Make sure what you write matches how the competition is actually set up. For example, if you say a competition will be drawn on a set date, check that its **Draw date** and **Auto draw** settings agree.
{% endhint %}

***

### Provably fair draws

The code asks operators to consider running draws fairly, with prizes awarded in accordance with the laws of chance and an equal chance for every entry, ideally through an independent or certified process.

Rafflex works with **TrueNorth**, a verifiable random number generator (RNG). An RNG is the tool that picks a random winning ticket. With TrueNorth, each draw is committed to in advance and the result can be checked independently, so you and your customers can see the draw was fair.

There are two parts to set up:

1. **Connect your TrueNorth account** on the **Standards** page in Settings. You enter your **Company Name**, **Company Number**, **Contact Name** and **Contact Email**, agree to the TrueNorth terms and click **Connect to TrueNorth**. Once you are connected, a **Provably Fair Autodraws** section appears on the same page and is switched on for you.
2. **Switch on Auto draw** on each competition you want drawn automatically. The winner is then picked through TrueNorth at the competition's **Draw date** (or as soon as it sells out, if **Draw on Sold Out** is switched on), with nothing for you to do on the day.

If you prefer to host a draw yourself on camera, you can run a live stream draw through TrueNorth instead.

### Showing the likelihood of winning

The code asks operators to consider showing the likelihood of winning.

Every competition page already shows a progress bar of how many tickets have sold. You can also add an **Odds Calculator** to any competition:

1. Open the competition in your admin panel.
2. Find the **Optional Extras** bar and switch it on, if it is not on already.
3. In the **Product Page Display** panel, switch on **Odds Calculator**. The note reads "Will add an odds calculator to the product page."
4. Save the competition.

As customers change how many tickets they want, a badge on the competition page shows their rough odds (for example "Odds 250/1"), based on the competition's **Max tickets**.

{% hint style="info" %}
In the same panel, **Percentage Only** hides the sold and total ticket numbers and shows only the percentage sold. If you want to be as open as possible about ticket numbers, leave **Percentage Only** switched off.
{% endhint %}

### Showing who has won

The code asks operators to consider being open about who has won.

Rafflex gives you several ways to show your winners publicly.

#### Your Results page

Your site has a **Results** page, linked from your header, that lists your drawn winners and the competitions still waiting to be drawn. It works automatically, so there is nothing to switch on. See [Results and Winners Pages](/customise-your-site/manage-your-pages/results-and-winners-pages.md).

#### The public Instant Winners list

You can switch on a public **Instant Winners** page that lists instant prize wins from the last 30 days, with an **Instant Winners** link in your header.

1. Go to **Settings**, then **General**.
2. In the **Winner Display** section, tick **Enable Instant Winner List**.
3. Optionally, set **Minimum Site Credit Shown On Instant Winner List**, so small site credit wins are left off the list.
4. Click **Save Settings**.

{% content-ref url="/pages/Sh1Ae1r0HyMxpg6teDtD" %}
[Public Instant Winners List](/drawing-winners/add-daily-instant-winner-stats.md)
{% endcontent-ref %}

You can also show your latest instant winners on your homepage with the **Instant Winners Carousel** block. See [Page Builder Blocks](/customise-your-site/page-builder-blocks.md).

#### How winner names appear

**Winners Name Display** controls how winner names appear across your site, including your Results page, winner cards, the Instant Winners page, the homepage winners carousel and the instant win ticket grids on competition pages.

1. Go to **Settings**, then **User Experience**.
2. Find **Winners Name Display** and choose one of:
   * **Winner Not Displayed** (shows "Anonymous")
   * **First Name + Last Initial** (for example "Sarah J")
   * **Full Name**
   * **Display Name** (the name the customer chose in their account settings)
3. Click **Save Settings**.

{% hint style="info" %}
Being open about winners is a balance with your customers' privacy. **First Name + Last Initial** shows that a real person won without publishing their full name. Whichever you choose, make sure your terms and privacy policy explain how winner names are used.
{% endhint %}

### Showing who has entered

An entry list lets anyone see which ticket numbers have been bought in a competition, and by whom. It is a strong way to show that tickets have genuinely been sold and that the draw is taken from real entries.

1. Open the competition in your admin panel.
2. Switch on **Entry list**. The note reads "Will enable the entry list & display link on page."
3. Save the competition.

There are two site wide settings that control how entry lists look and who can see them:

* **Entry List Name Display** (in **Settings**, then **User Experience**) chooses how names appear in the list: **First Name + Last Initial**, **Full Name** or **Display Name**.
* **Disable Entry List Unless In The Competition** (in **Settings**, then **Advanced**, in the **Entry Settings** section) means only customers who have bought tickets for that competition can see its entry list.

[Entry List Display](/additional-settings/entry-list-display.md)
{% endcontent-ref %}

### Free entry route

The code asks operators to consider offering a genuine free entry route and showing it clearly before the point of purchase.

On each competition page, customers can switch from **Online** to **Free Postal Entry** just above the ticket selector. That tab explains your free entry route, and always finishes with a line telling the customer how many tickets a postal entry earns on that competition. This means the free route is shown before anyone buys.

You write the wording for that tab yourself:

1. Go to **Settings**, then **Checkout**.
2. In the **Checkout Settings** section, fill in **Free Entry Tab Terms**. The note reads "These terms will appear on the free postal entry tab on each product page. Use this to explain how postal entries work and any rules that apply."
3. Click **Save Settings**.

If you leave **Free Entry Tab Terms** empty, the tab shows a short **Free Postal Entry** message with a link to the postal entry section of your terms and conditions instead, so make sure your terms explain your postal route.

When a postal entry arrives, you add the entrant's free tickets to the competition from your admin panel. The pages below walk through both halves of the process:

{% endcontent-ref %}

{% hint style="info" %}
If you do not see the **Free Postal Entry** tab on your competition pages, contact Rafflex support.
{% endhint %}

### Prize delivery and payouts

The code asks operators to consider delivering the advertised prize promptly, or a reasonable cash alternative. It also asks operators to consider not reducing a prize or cancelling a draw simply because ticket sales were low.

Rafflex gives you several tools that can help here.

#### Tell winners exactly what happens next

Your winner emails can include your own claim instructions, so winners know how and when they will receive their prize. Go to **Settings**, then **Email**, and in the **Winner Notifications** section fill in:

* **Instant Win Email Payout Instructions**, which "Appears in the instant win email after each win."
* **Draw Win Email Instructions**, which "Appears in the draw win email after each win."

Both are there to "explain how winners can claim their prize". See [Email Setup](/essential-settings/email-setup.md) for examples.

#### Keep track of who you still need to pay

Every instant win is listed under **Management**, then **Instant Winners**. The **Paid** column shows which prizes have been delivered, and the **Only Show Unpaid** filter (switched on each time you open the list) narrows it to the ones still waiting. Your **Dashboard** also has a **Latest Unpaid Instant Wins** section with a **Mark Paid** button on each card, so nothing gets forgotten. See [Managing Instant Winners](/drawing-winners/managing-instant-winners.md) and [Managing Payouts](/drawing-winners/managing-payouts.md).

#### Confirm to winners that they have been paid

* **Instant win prizes.** When you click **Mark Paid** on a single win, or **Mark All As Paid** on your dashboard, the winner receives a "marked as paid" email. This is controlled by **Enable Payout Confirmation Email** in **Settings**, then **Email**, in the **Payout Settings** section. It is switched on by default. You can write your own wording in **Marked As Paid Email** on the same page. Using the **Mark as paid** bulk action on the **Instant Winners** list updates the status but does not send this email.
* **Withdrawals.** When you mark a customer's withdrawal as paid, they always receive a **Withdrawal paid** email. This is not affected by **Enable Payout Confirmation Email**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The note under **Enable Payout Confirmation Email** mentions payout requests, but the setting actually controls the instant win "marked as paid" email. Switching it off does not stop withdrawal paid emails. See [Emails Your Customers Receive](/essential-settings/email-setup/customer-emails.md) for every winner and withdrawal email.
{% endhint %}

#### Let winners withdraw their winnings

Customers can withdraw earned [site credit](/additional-settings/site-credit-and-wallets.md) to their bank account if you allow it. You can set a minimum withdrawal value and, if you want an extra identity check before paying out, ask for photo ID:

* **Enable Payout Photo ID Upload** lets customers upload a photo ID when requesting a withdrawal.
* **Photo ID is Required for Payouts** makes that photo ID compulsory. It only appears once the first option is switched on.

Both are in **Settings**, then **User Experience**, in the **User Controls** section.

{% content-ref url="/pages/BcZ3EpDxIjeZXRcgQ2ec" %}
[Wallet & Withdrawals](/essential-settings/wallet-and-withdrawals.md)
{% endcontent-ref %}

#### Low ticket sales

A competition with **Auto draw** switched on is still drawn at its **Draw date** even if it has not sold out, as long as enough tickets have sold to cover the number of winners you set. If too few tickets sold, the automatic draw cannot run and you will need to step in. Whether you ever reduce a prize or cancel a draw is your decision as the operator, and your terms should explain your approach. See [Auto Draw When a Competition Does Not Sell Out](/drawing-winners/truenorth-autodraws/auto-draw-when-not-sold-out.md).

***

### Charitable contributions

The code asks operators who make charitable contributions to be transparent about them. Rafflex does not set this up for you automatically, so this is something you handle through your own site content and terms, for example by explaining clearly how any charitable contributions work, which charity benefits and how much is given.

You could explain this in a competition's description, on a dedicated page (see [Manage Your Pages](/customise-your-site/manage-your-pages.md)) or in your terms.
