# Product Catalogue

Feed your live competitions into a Meta product catalogue so you can run catalogue ads and tag competitions across Facebook and Instagram.

A Meta product catalogue is a list of everything you sell, stored inside your Meta Business account. Once your competitions are in a catalogue, you can run catalogue ads (ads that automatically show each person the competitions they are most likely to enter), tag competitions in your posts, and let Meta promote the most relevant competition to each shopper.

RaffleX gives every site a ready made **catalogue feed**. This is a web address that lists all of your currently live competitions in the format Meta expects. You add the address to Meta once, and from then on Meta keeps your catalogue up to date for you. There is nothing to switch on in your admin panel.

Your catalogue feed address is:

```
https://yourdomain.com/api/meta/catalogue.xml
```

Replace `yourdomain.com` with your own site domain (the address customers visit to enter your competitions). For example, if your site is `www.examplecomps.co.uk`, your feed address is `https://www.examplecomps.co.uk/api/meta/catalogue.xml`.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Check it works.** Paste your feed address into your web browser. You should see a page of text listing your live competitions. If you see your competition titles in there, the feed is ready to add to Meta.
{% endhint %}

***

### Which competitions appear in the feed

The feed only lists competitions that customers can currently find and enter on your site. A competition is included when all of these are true:

* The **Active** toggle is on.
* Its **Start Date (Scheduler)** has passed. A [scheduled competition](/create-your-first-raffle/create-a-competition/schedule-a-competition.md) is added once its start date arrives.
* Its **End** date has not passed yet.
* It has not sold out.
* It is not marked as a [Hidden / VIP Competition](/create-your-first-raffle/hidden-vip-competitions.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
**Hidden VIP competitions are never included.** If you run a private competition for selected customers, it stays out of your Meta catalogue, so it will not be shown in catalogue ads to the public.
{% endhint %}

As you launch new competitions, or others sell out or close, the feed updates on its own. Meta picks up those changes the next time it fetches your feed, on the schedule you choose when you add it (see below).

### What the feed includes

For every competition in the feed, RaffleX provides the details Meta needs to build a catalogue item:

| Catalogue detail | Where it comes from |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **ID** | A unique number for each competition. Meta uses this to match the item with activity from your [Tracking](/marketing/facebook-and-meta/tracking.md) events. |
| **Title**           | The competition's **Title**.                                                                                                                                 |
| **Description** | The competition's **Description** as plain text. Formatting such as bold text, headings and links is stripped out, and very long descriptions are shortened. |
| **Link** | The competition page on your site. |
| **Image** | The competition's **Featured Image**. If no image is available, your **Site Logo** is used instead. |
| **Price** | The ticket price in your site's currency. If the competition has a **Sale price**, the sale price is used. |
| **Availability** | Always "in stock", because only live competitions are listed. |
| **Condition**       | Always "new".                                                                                                                                                |
| **Brand** | Your **Site Name** from your [General Settings](/additional-settings/settings/general-settings.md). |
| **Expiration date** | The competition's **End** date, so Meta knows when to stop showing it. |

Everything is already formatted to Meta's requirements, so you do not need to edit or prepare anything yourself.

{% hint style="info" %}
Your Featured Image is what people see in catalogue ads, so it is worth making it eye catching. Square images work well across Facebook and Instagram. See the [Image Size Guide](/helpful-info/image-size-guide.md) for recommended sizes.
{% endhint %}

### How to add the feed to Meta

You add the feed inside **Meta Commerce Manager**, which is part of your Meta Business account. Meta changes its menus from time to time, so the names below may differ slightly on your screen.

1. Go to [business.facebook.com](https://business.facebook.com) and open **Commerce Manager**.
2. If you do not already have a catalogue, create one and choose the **e-commerce** (online products) type.
3. Open your catalogue, go to **Data Sources** (sometimes shown as **Catalogue** then **Data Sources**), and click **Add Items**.
4. Choose **Data Feed** as the method.
5. When asked for your file, select the **scheduled feed** option and paste in your catalogue feed address from above.
6. Give the feed a name, choose your **default currency** (the same currency your site uses), and set how often Meta should refresh it. **Daily** is a good choice for most sites. If you launch or close competitions several times a day, choose a more frequent option if Meta offers one.
7. Click **Upload** (or **Next**) to finish. Meta will fetch your feed and add your competitions to the catalogue.

{% hint style="success" %}
Because you chose the scheduled option, Meta re-checks your feed automatically on the schedule you set. You will not need to upload anything again. Your catalogue simply follows your live competitions. If you have just launched a competition and want it in your catalogue straight away, look for an option in Commerce Manager to update the feed now.
{% endhint %}

### Connect your Pixel to your catalogue

Catalogue ads work best when Meta can see which competitions each person has viewed, added to their basket or bought. RaffleX already sends this information with your [Tracking](/marketing/facebook-and-meta/tracking.md) events, using the same competition IDs as your feed.

1. Make sure your **Facebook Pixel ID** is set up. See [Tracking](/marketing/facebook-and-meta/tracking.md).
2. In **Commerce Manager**, open your catalogue and look for the option to connect event data sources (often under **Events** or **Settings**).
3. Choose the same Pixel you added to RaffleX and save.

Once connected, Meta can show people the exact competitions they looked at on your site, and suggest similar ones they are likely to enter.

### Troubleshooting

| Problem                                        | What to check                                                                                                                                                                         |
| ---------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| A competition is missing from the catalogue | Check it is **Active**, has started, has not ended or sold out, and is not a Hidden / VIP competition. Then wait for Meta's next scheduled fetch, or ask Meta to update the feed now. |
| A competition that has closed is still showing | Meta only removes it after its next fetch of your feed. The expiration date also tells Meta to stop showing it once the competition ends. |
| The price looks wrong | The feed uses the **Sale price** when one is set, otherwise the normal **Price**. Check both fields on the competition. |
