# Facebook & Meta

Everything you need to advertise your raffle site on Facebook and Instagram, measure your results, and show your competitions in a Meta product catalogue.

Facebook and Instagram (both owned by Meta) are where many raffle customers first discover a competition. They are powerful places to advertise, but prize draw and raffle sites have extra rules to follow, and you will get far better results once Meta can see which ads actually lead to ticket sales.

RaffleX has Meta tracking and a Meta product feed built in, so there is no code to install. This section walks you through the three pieces in the order most operators set them up.

| Step | What it does | What you need |
| --------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **1. Get approved to advertise** | Meta treats raffles and prize draws as real money gambling, so you must apply for permission before your ads can run. | A legal letter, clear Terms & Conditions and a clear explanation of how your competitions work. |
| **2. Turn on tracking** | Lets Meta see visits, baskets, checkouts, sign ups and purchases on your site, so it can report on and optimise your ads. Free entries and orders paid with Site Credit are reported separately, so only real money counts as a purchase. | Your **Facebook Pixel ID** and, ideally, a **Conversions API access token**. |
| **3. Add your product catalogue** | Sends your live competitions into Meta automatically, ready for catalogue ads and product tagging. | Your catalogue feed address and access to Meta Commerce Manager. |

{% hint style="info" %}
You can set up tracking and your catalogue while you wait for advertising approval. Doing so means your Pixel is already collecting visitor data on the day your first ad goes live.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Already advertising and seeing fewer Purchases in Ads Manager?** RaffleX now only reports an order to Meta as a Purchase when it took real money. Free entries and orders paid entirely with Site Credit are sent as separate events instead, so your earlier Purchase figures were higher than the money you actually took. [Tracking](/marketing/facebook-and-meta/tracking.md#how-each-type-of-order-is-reported) explains what is sent for each type of order and how to use the new events in your campaigns.
