# Piñata

A colourful party piñata. Customers hit it once for every ticket, and each hit drops out a prize or "No Win".

***

### What Is It?

A fun, party themed game. A colourful piñata swings on screen, and customers tap or click it to give it a whack. Every hit knocks out the result for one of their tickets, until the piñata finally bursts.

In the **Game Type** dropdown, this game is called **Piñata**.

{% hint style="info" %}
Like every game type, Piñata only appears once the competition has at least one [instant win prize](/create-your-first-raffle/add-instant-wins.md). Without one, customers simply see their ticket numbers.
{% endhint %}

***

### How It Works

1. After checking out, the customer lands on their order confirmation page and sees the piñata swinging gently. Above it, a **Health** bar shows how many hits are left (for example **5/5**). They get one hit per ticket.
2. The customer taps or clicks the piñata. It jolts with a punch sound and a **HIT!** marker, and the Health bar goes down by one.
3. Each hit drops out the result for one ticket. A **winning** ticket drops out the prize name in large text, with a win sound. A losing ticket drops out a small **No Win!**.
4. They keep hitting until the Health bar is empty. The piñata then bursts with a final bang.
5. If any tickets won, a **Winning Tickets Summary** lists each winning ticket number and its prize. If none did, the message reads **Pinata Destroyed!**, **0 Instant Wins Found** and "Better Luck Next time!".

{% hint style="info" %}
Customers can only hit the piñata once the previous hit has finished, so every ticket gets its own moment. For orders with lots of tickets, a different game type with an autoplay option (such as [Pop](/instant-win-games/pop.md) or [Slots](/instant-win-games/slots.md)) may suit your customers better.
{% endhint %}

### Setting It Up

1. In the **admin panel**, find the **Competitions** group in the left-hand menu and click **Competitions**.
2. Click **Edit** on the competition you want to use (or click **New Competition** to start a fresh one).
3. In the right-hand column, open the **Game Type** dropdown and choose **Piñata**.
4. Click **Save changes** (or **Create** on a new competition).
5. Make sure the competition has at least one instant win. See [Add Instant Wins](/create-your-first-raffle/add-instant-wins.md).

### Customisation Options

Piñata has **no custom settings**. There is no artwork, background or sound to upload, so no settings panel appears under the **Game Type** dropdown when you choose it.

The game uses your instant win prizes automatically. The prize name you enter for each instant win is the text that drops out of the piñata, so:

* **Keep prize names short and clear**, for example "£100 Cash" or "AirPods Pro". Winning names are shown in large text, so long names can wrap onto several lines, especially on a phone.
* **Write them the way you want customers to read them**, as they appear exactly as typed.

You can change prize names at any time from the competition's **Instant Wins** tab. See [Add Instant Wins](/create-your-first-raffle/add-instant-wins.md).

### Want to try it first?

Once the competition has been saved, a **Preview Game** button appears just under the **Game Type** dropdown. Click it to open the **Game Preview** page and play the Piñata before any customer sees it.

* Because Piñata has no custom settings, the **Game Settings** panel on the left simply says "This game has no custom artwork or sounds. It uses your instant win prizes." You can also use its **Game Type** dropdown to compare Piñata with other games.
* The **Live Preview** on the right plays the game with a few sample tickets, some of them winners. Nothing is entered and no one is charged.
* Use the desktop and mobile buttons above the preview to see both layouts, and the circular arrow to replay the game.
* Click **Back to competition** to return to the edit page.

{% hint style="warning" %}
If you change the **Game Type** on the preview page and then click **Save**, the competition's game type changes too. A message under the page title warns you when this will happen. If you only want to look, click **Back to competition** without saving.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
The preview uses your real instant win prizes, so it is most useful once you have added them. If the competition has no instant wins yet, it shows some example prizes instead so you can still check the look.
