# One Line Bingo

A row based instant win game where customers flip a line of numbered bingo balls for each ticket to find out whether they have won.

***

### What Is It?

One Line Bingo turns every ticket into its own row of five numbered bingo balls. Customers click a row and the balls flip over one at a time. If the ticket is an instant winner, the whole line comes up and a big **BINGO!** celebration plays with the prize shown above the row. If not, the line is broken by red balls and the customer moves on to the next row.

It works well for competitions where customers buy several tickets at once, because every ticket gets its own row and they can reveal them at their own pace or all together.

{% hint style="info" %}
In the **Game Type** dropdown, this game appears as **One Line Bingo**.

### Before You Start

The game only appears for customers when the competition has **at least one instant win**. If a competition has no instant wins, customers see their ticket numbers as normal but no game is played. See [Add Instant Wins](/create-your-first-raffle/add-instant-wins.md) to set up your prizes.

### Set It Up

1. In the admin panel, find the **Competitions** group in the left-hand menu and click **Competitions**.
2. Click **New Competition**, or click an existing competition to edit it.
3. In the right-hand column, find the **Game Type** dropdown and choose **One Line Bingo**.
4. A **One Line Bingo Settings** box appears just below it. It holds one optional setting, the custom win sound (see below).
5. Click **Create** for a new competition, or **Save changes** for an existing one.

{% hint style="info" %}
You do not need to upload anything for One Line Bingo to work. The game comes with its own built-in sounds and celebration, so you can choose it and save straight away.
{% endhint %}

### What Your Customers See

The game plays on the order confirmation page, straight after checkout, underneath the customer's ticket numbers.

1. A dark game panel appears with the heading **One Line Bingo** and the instruction "Click a row to reveal your balls!".
2. There is one row for each ticket in the order. Each row shows five numbered balls and the ticket number (for example **#1234**) on the right. On larger screens, such as a tablet or computer, the rows sit in two columns. On a phone they stack in a single column.
3. The customer clicks a row. The five balls flip over one by one, each with a short "pop" sound.
4. A ball that matches flips to reveal a coloured emoji. A ball that does not match stays as a number and turns red.
5. **A winning row** shows the same emoji on all five balls. A large **BINGO!** message bursts onto the screen, the win sound plays, and the prize name appears in a badge above the row. On phones that support it, the device gives a short buzz.
6. **A losing row** has at least one red ball. No celebration plays, and the customer moves on to the next row.
7. The customer carries on clicking rows until every ticket has been revealed.
8. Once the last row is done, a **Bingo Results** summary slides in below the rows (see below).

{% hint style="info" %}
If the customer has more than one winning row in a short space of time, each **BINGO!** celebration plays in turn rather than all at once, so every win gets its moment.
{% endhint %}

#### Reveal All

Customers with lots of tickets do not have to click every row. Above the rows is a speed selector and a **Reveal All** button.

1. The customer picks a speed from the dropdown. **Medium** is selected by default.
2. They press **Reveal All** and the rows reveal one after another on their own.

| Speed       | What happens                                                                                          |
| ----------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Instant** | Every row is revealed at once, with no animation between rows. The game goes straight to the results. |
| **Fast** | Rows start revealing in quick succession. |
| **Medium** | A balanced pace. This is the default. |
| **Slow** | A drawn out, suspenseful reveal with a longer pause between rows. |

A few things worth knowing about **Reveal All**:

* The individual ball "pop" sounds are switched off during **Reveal All**, so a big order does not become a wall of noise. Winning rows still get their **BINGO!** celebration and win sound at the Fast, Medium and Slow speeds.
* At the **Instant** speed, the per row **BINGO!** celebrations are skipped. The customer goes straight to the summary, where the end of game celebration still plays if they have won.
* The **Reveal All** button is greyed out while a row is still flipping, and disappears once every row has been revealed.

#### The results summary

When every row has been revealed, a **Bingo Results** box appears:

* **If the customer has won,** it says "You won 1 prize!" (or "You won 3 prizes!" and so on), followed by a list of each winning ticket number and its prize. A short fanfare plays and a shower of confetti bursts across the game.
* **If nothing was won,** it reads "No bingo this time. Better luck next round!".

#### Sound controls

A speaker icon in the top right corner of the game lets the customer mute or unmute every sound in the game at any time.

### Customisation Options

One Line Bingo has a single setting, found in the **One Line Bingo Settings** box under the **Game Type** dropdown.

#### Custom Bingo Win Sound (MP3)

Upload your own sound to replace the built-in sound that plays when a winning row completes and the **BINGO!** message appears.

* **Format:** MP3.
* **Max file size:** 200KB.
* **When it plays:** once for each winning row, at the moment the **BINGO!** celebration appears. If the customer uses **Reveal All** at the **Instant** speed, the per row celebrations are skipped, so this sound does not play.

To add it:

1. In the **One Line Bingo Settings** box, click the **Custom Bingo Win Sound (MP3)** upload area, or drag your MP3 file onto it.
2. Wait for the upload to finish.
3. Click **Save changes** (or **Create** if this is a new competition).

To go back to the built-in sound, remove the file from the upload area and save the competition again.

{% hint style="info" %}
**If you leave this blank, a built-in win sound plays instead.** The note under the upload box says no sound will be played without an upload, but in practice the game always has a default win sound for the **BINGO!** moment. Your upload simply replaces it.

The fanfare that plays at the very end, when the results summary appears, is part of the game and is not changed by this setting.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Keep it short.** A punchy sound of one or two seconds works best. The **BINGO!** message only stays on screen for a couple of seconds, and several winning rows can play one after another, so a long track will overlap itself.
{% endhint %}

### Tips for a Great Bingo Game

* **Give your prizes clear, short names.** The prize name appears in a small badge above a winning row, so "£50 Cash" reads better than a long description.
* **Encourage bigger orders.** Because every ticket gets its own row, One Line Bingo shines when customers buy several tickets. It pairs nicely with the **Bundles** promotion type. See [Create a Competition](/create-your-first-raffle/create-a-competition.md) for how to add a promotion.
* **Test on a phone.** Most customers will play on their phones, where the rows stack in one column. Use the mobile view in **Preview Game** (below) to check how it feels.

***

### Want to try it first?

Once the competition has been saved, a **Preview Game** button appears just under the **Game Type** dropdown. Click it to open the **Game Preview** page, where you can play One Line Bingo with your own settings before any customer sees it.

* The **Game Settings** panel on the left holds the same **One Line Bingo Settings** described above. Any change you make, including a new sound upload, shows in the preview straight away.
* The **Live Preview** on the right plays the game with a few sample tickets, some of them winners. Nothing is entered and no one is charged.
* Use the desktop and mobile buttons above the preview to see both layouts, and the circular arrow to replay the game.
* Click **Save** when you are happy. Your changes are not applied to the competition until you do. Click **Back to competition** to return to the edit page.

{% hint style="info" %}
The preview uses your real instant win prizes, so it is most useful once you have added them. If the competition has no instant wins yet, it shows some example prizes instead so you can still check the look.
