Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://docs.rafflex.io/additional-settings/settings.md). # Settings Overview Find your way around the Settings area of your admin panel, see what lives on each page, and learn how saving works. *** Settings is where you control how your whole site looks and behaves: your site name, emails, branding, checkout, payments, marketing tools and much more. This page gives you a tour of the Settings area so you always know where to look. *** ### How to open Settings 1. Log in to your **admin panel**. 2. In the left-hand menu, find the **Content** group. 3. Click **Settings**. Settings opens on the **General** page. Down the side of the Settings area you will see a second menu listing every settings page. Click a name in that menu to move between pages. {% hint style="info" %} **Settings has changed.** If you have used Rafflex for a while, you may remember Settings as one long table with a search bar, **Edit** buttons, pop-up boxes and values shown as "Yes" or "No". That table has gone. Each area now has its own page with the fields laid out in sections, and you edit everything directly on the page. Some older guides and videos may still show the old layout. {% endhint %} *** ### The Settings pages The pages appear in the side menu in this order. If a guide mentions a settings page or field that you cannot find, contact Rafflex support and we will help you. {% endhint %} *** ### How settings pages work Every settings page follows the same pattern, so once you have used one you can use them all. #### Sections Fields are grouped into sections with a heading, for example **Site Information** or **Code Injection**. Scroll down the page to see every section. Each field has a label, and most have a short description underneath explaining what it does. #### Saving your changes 1. Make your changes on the page. 2. Scroll to the bottom and click **Save Settings**. 3. A green message appears in the corner of the screen to confirm your settings were saved. {% hint style="success" %} **Shortcut:** you can also save by pressing **Cmd + S** on a Mac or **Ctrl + S** on Windows while you are on a settings page. {% endhint %} {% hint style="warning" %} Each page saves on its own. If you change something on one page and then click into another page in the side menu without clicking **Save Settings**, your change is not kept. Save before you move on. {% endhint %} If a required field is left empty, or a value is in the wrong format (for example an email address without an @ sign), the page does not save. A red message appears under the field that needs fixing. Correct it and click **Save Settings** again. #### Fields that appear when you switch something on Some fields only show once a related toggle is switched on or a particular option is chosen. For example, the reward fields on the **Affiliate** page only appear after you switch the affiliate scheme on. If a guide mentions a field you cannot see, check whether there is a toggle or a drop-down above it that needs changing first. #### Secret fields A few fields hold especially private information, such as the secret keys for a payout provider on the [Payouts](/additional-settings/payouts.md) page. Once you save one of these, Rafflex keeps it hidden for your security: * A green **Saved** label appears next to the field name. * The box shows a row of dots instead of your key. * The description reads "Saved and hidden. Leave blank to keep the current value, or enter a new one to replace it." To keep the current value, simply leave the box empty when you save. To change it, paste the new value into the box and click **Save Settings**. Because the saved value is never shown again, keep a copy of your keys somewhere safe, such as a password manager. *** ### Who can see Settings Settings is available to admin accounts on your site. If you have given a staff member restricted access with the **Restrict Settings** option, Settings does not appear in their menu at all. This is useful for team members who help with competitions or orders but should not change how your site works.
