# Order & Cart Settings

Site wide basket and checkout rules: the most tickets of a competition a customer can buy in one order, a minimum basket value, one unpaid order at a time, and your site currency.

***

These settings apply across your whole site. They help you keep orders sensible and fair, cut down on tiny orders that cost more in fees than they earn, and stop customers tying up tickets in unpaid orders.

You will find them on the **Checkout** page of your settings. The page itself is titled **Checkout & Wallet**, and it is split into sections:

| Section                   | What it holds                                                                                              | Covered                                                                     |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Order & Cart Settings** | **Max Tickets Per Order**, **Minimum Cart Value**, **Cashback Percentage** and **Minimum Withdrawl Value** | On this page (cashback and withdrawals have their own guides, linked below) |
| **Checkout Settings** | **Limit to Single Pending Order** and **Free Entry Tab Terms** | On this page (free entry has its own guide, linked below) |

### How to open the Checkout settings

1. Log in to your **admin panel**.
2. In the left-hand menu, find the **Content** group and click **Settings**.
3. In the Settings side menu, click **Checkout**. The page title at the top reads **Checkout & Wallet**.
4. Scroll to the section you need.
5. When you have made your changes, click **Save Settings** at the bottom of the page. A green message confirms "Checkout settings saved successfully".

{% hint style="info" %}
You can also save by pressing **Cmd + S** on a Mac or **Ctrl + S** on Windows. Each settings page saves on its own, so remember to save before you click into another page.

### Order & Cart Settings

#### Max Tickets Per Order

The helper text reads "Maximum number of tickets a user can purchase in a single order."

This is a site wide cap on how many tickets of **any one competition** a customer can buy in a single order. It applies to every competition on your site, on top of any limits you set on the competition itself.

* **Default:** 1000.
* **Allowed values:** any whole number from 1 to 10,000. The field is required, so it cannot be left empty.

For example, with the default of 1000, a customer can add up to 1000 tickets for Competition A in one order, even if Competition A has 5,000 tickets left. If they want more, they need to place a second order.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**This is not the same as a competition's own ticket limits.**

* **Max Tickets Per Order** (here, in settings) is a cap per competition per order, for every competition on your site.
* **Max tickets** (on a competition) is the total number of tickets that competition has.
* **Max per user** (on a competition) limits how many tickets of that competition one customer can hold in total, across all their orders.
* **Max per order** (on a competition) limits how many tickets of that one competition a customer can buy in a single order. It works within the site wide cap.

If you only want to limit one competition, use the fields on the competition itself. Use **Max Tickets Per Order** when you want a ceiling that applies everywhere.
{% endhint %}

Customers never have to work this out themselves. The ticket selector on each competition page stops at the most they are allowed to choose, which takes every limit into account, including tickets already in their basket.

{% hint style="info" %}
For a full explanation of how all four limits combine, with worked examples and what customers see when they reach a limit, read [How Ticket Limits Work](/create-your-first-raffle/create-a-competition/ticket-limits-explained.md). To change how customers pick their quantity, see [Ticket Selector Style](/additional-settings/ticket-selector-style.md).
{% endhint %}

#### Minimum Cart Value

The helper text reads "Minimum amount customers must spend per order. Helps with transaction fees".

Every card payment costs you a small processing fee. On very small orders, that fee can eat most of your profit. **Minimum Cart Value** lets you set the smallest basket total a customer can check out with.

* **Allowed values:** from 0.01 up to 9.99, with no more than two decimal places (for example **1.50**).
* **Leave it empty** if you do not want a minimum. This is how new sites start.
* **Free baskets are not affected.** If the basket total is 0 (for example a free competition), the minimum does not apply.

When a customer tries to check out with a basket below your minimum, the order is not placed and they see a message such as:

> Your basket must be greater than or equal to £1.50 to checkout.

They can then add more tickets and try again.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Choosing a minimum.** Look at the fee your payment provider charges per transaction and set a minimum that keeps every order worthwhile. Keep it low enough that a customer buying one or two tickets on your cheapest competition is not put off. If your cheapest tickets cost 49p, a minimum of £1 still lets someone buy three.
{% endhint %}

#### Cashback Percentage

The percentage of each order returned to the customer as site credit. Set it to **0** to switch cashback off. Everything about cashback is explained in [Cashback Explained](/additional-settings/site-credit-and-wallets/cashback-explained.md).

#### Minimum Withdrawl Value

The smallest amount a customer can withdraw from their wallet in one request. It lives in this section, although it is a wallet setting. See [Wallet & Withdrawals](/essential-settings/wallet-and-withdrawals.md) for how withdrawals work.

{% hint style="info" %}
The setting really is spelt **Minimum Withdrawl Value** on screen, so look for that spelling if you are searching the page.
{% endhint %}

#### Limit to Single Pending Order

The helper text reads "Prevent customers from creating a new order if they already have a pending (unpaid) order. Helps prevent ticket hoarding."

When a customer goes to pay, the tickets in their order are held for them while the payment goes through. Until they pay, that order is **pending**. If they never finish paying, the order is cancelled automatically after a short while and the held tickets go back on sale.

With **Limit to Single Pending Order** switched on, a customer who already has a pending order cannot start another one. If they try, the new order is not created and they see this message:

> You already have a pending order awaiting payment. Please complete or cancel your existing order or allow a few minutes for it to expire.

* **Default:** off.
* **When to switch it on:** for big launches, or competitions that are close to selling out, where you want to stop one customer from holding lots of tickets across several unpaid orders while other customers are told the competition looks sold out.
* **When you might leave it off:** if your customers often abandon a payment and want to start again straight away. With the setting on, a customer who walks away from a payment has to complete or cancel that order, or wait a few minutes for it to expire, before they can start a new one.

{% hint style="info" %}
Want to see which orders are pending right now, and how many tickets they are holding? The [Pending Tickets](/helpful-info/pending-tickets.md) page shows this live, and helps you spot customers who keep starting orders without paying.
{% endhint %}

#### Free Entry Tab Terms

The wording customers see in the free postal entry tab on your competition pages. Writing it, and what customers see if you leave it blank, is covered in [Free Entry](/additional-settings/free-entry.md).

### Payment Methods

#### Currency

Choose the currency for your site. There are two options:

* **£ GBP** (the default)
* **€ EUR**

Your choice sets the currency symbol shown on your competition pages, basket, checkout, wallet and admin panel. On a **€ EUR** site, the **Payouts** page in the customer's account also lets them give an **IBAN**, so they can provide either an IBAN or their bank account details for withdrawals.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Set your currency before you launch, and do not change it on a live site.** Changing this setting only changes the symbol and currency shown. It does not convert any of your prices, wallet balances or past orders. Check with your payment provider that your account takes payments in the same currency. If you need to change currency on a site that is already trading, contact Rafflex support first.
