Leaderboards
Leaderboards let your customers compete for prizes by earning points through Instant Wins. Here's how to set up and manage leaderboards on your competitions.
How Leaderboards Work
Leaderboards add a competitive layer to your competitions. When enabled, select Instant Wins can award points to players each time they are revealed. Points are tallied on a live leaderboard visible on the competition page, and top players win prizes when the leaderboard period ends.
Here's the flow:
You enable a leaderboard on a competition and choose your settings.
You configure which Instant Wins award points (and how many).
You add prizes for the top positions.
As customers buy tickets and reveal Instant Wins, they earn points.
Rankings update on the competition page (refreshed every 30 seconds).
When the period ends, winners are determined and prizes are awarded automatically.
Enable a Leaderboard
Go to Competitions in the admin panel.
Select the competition you want to add a leaderboard to.
Scroll down to the Leaderboard section.
Toggle Enable Leaderboard on.
Configure the duration, tiebreaker, and prizes (see below).
Click Save.
Choose a Duration
The duration controls how long each leaderboard period runs before resetting. Choose one of the following:
Match Competition
A single leaderboard runs for the entire competition (start to end). There are no resets, no countdown timer, and no period selector. This is the simplest option.
Daily
The leaderboard period runs from the start of day to end of day. Results are archived automatically overnight, and a new period begins the next day.
Weekly
The leaderboard period runs Monday through Sunday. Results are archived automatically on Monday morning, and a new period begins.
Set the Tiebreaker
When two or more players have the same number of points, the tiebreaker determines who ranks higher. The tiebreaker always produces a definitive order, so every position on the leaderboard is unique. Customers will never see two players sharing the same rank.
First to Score
The player who revealed their first scoring Instant Win earliest ranks higher. If Player A scored their first points at 8am and Player B scored at 9am, Player A ranks above Player B. This rewards players who engage with the competition early.
Most Tickets
The player with the most completed tickets for the competition ranks higher. If Player A has 10 completed tickets and Player B has 3, Player A ranks above Player B. This rewards players who have purchased more tickets overall.
Add Prizes
Prizes are defined once per competition and reused for each leaderboard period. The same prize set applies whether the leaderboard runs daily, weekly, or for the full competition. Only the top N players receive prizes, where N is the number of prizes you have created.
In the Leaderboard section of your competition, click Add Prize.
Set the Rank (1 for 1st place, 2 for 2nd place, etc.).
Enter a Prize Description (e.g. "£100 Cash Prize" or "50 Free Tickets").
Upload a Prize Image (optional, PNG or JPG, max 512KB).
Toggle Site Credit if you want the prize paid as wallet credit (see Site Credit & Wallets).
If Site Credit is enabled, enter the Payout Amount to be credited automatically.
Click Save.
Configure Instant Win Points
Not every Instant Win needs to award leaderboard points. You choose which ones contribute and how many points each is worth.
Go to Competitions and select your competition.
Open the Instant Wins tab at the bottom of the page.
Click on the Instant Win you want to configure.
Toggle Award Leaderboard Points on.
Enter a Points Value (1 to 10,000).
Click Save.
Repeat for each Instant Win you want to include in the leaderboard.
What Your Customers See
When a leaderboard is enabled, the competition page displays:
Leaderboard Table showing rank, player display name, and total points. Gold, silver, and bronze medal badges highlight the top 3 positions. The logged in customer's own row is highlighted with a coloured border and a "You" label.
Prize Showcase showing the prizes available, including images and descriptions. On mobile, prizes scroll horizontally. On desktop, the top 3 are shown in a grid with an option to expand and view all.
Countdown Timer (Daily and Weekly only) counting down days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the current period ends.
Your Rank Card (logged in users only) showing the customer's current position and total points for the active period. This card is hidden when viewing archived periods.
Period Selector (Daily and Weekly only) with buttons to switch between the current period and up to 5 recent archived periods.
Load More button to view more entries beyond the initial 10 (loads 10 more each click, up to a maximum of 100).
Last Updated timestamp at the bottom showing when the rankings were last refreshed.
Managing Leaderboard Winners
After a leaderboard period ends, you can view and manage winners from the admin panel.
Go to Competitions and select the competition.
Click the Leaderboard Winners tab at the bottom of the page.
From here you can:
View all winners across all periods, with their rank, points, prize, and period dates.
Filter by paid or unpaid to track which prizes still need fulfilling.
Mark as Paid individually or in bulk for prizes you've fulfilled manually.
Mark as Unpaid to reverse the paid status if needed.
View the winner's profile by clicking their name.
Automatic Prize Payouts
For Daily and Weekly leaderboards, prizes are paid automatically when the period is archived by the scheduled task (overnight for daily, Monday morning for weekly). The system checks for any missed periods (up to 7 days for daily, 4 weeks for weekly) so prizes are still awarded if the task was delayed.
When a period is finalised:
Users are ranked by total points, then by the tiebreaker.
Each ranked user is matched to the next available prize in order (1st place prize, 2nd place prize, etc.).
If the prize is marked as Site Credit with a payout amount, the amount is deposited into the winner's wallet immediately.
The winner record is marked as paid. Non-credit prizes must be marked paid manually.
Competition duration leaderboards are not archived automatically. You must finalise them manually from the admin panel.
How Ties Work
When two or more players have the same number of points, the tiebreaker setting fully resolves the ordering. Every position on the leaderboard is unique, there are no shared ranks.
For example, if Player A and Player B both have 500 points and the tiebreaker is "First to Score", the player who scored first is ranked higher. One finishes 1st and the other finishes 2nd, each receiving the corresponding prize.
